Achievement Leaders
In September 2009 Portchester Community School took the momentous decision to move away from traditional year-based tutor groups and towards Vertical Tutoring. Each tutor group now has about five representatives of each year group. Despite some initial misgivings the move has proved amost universally popular with staff and students, with younger students feeling more secure about their dealings with their older peers, and the older students having many more opportunities to take on responsibility.
Each house is identified by a colour, and was named according to a vote among the students. The final outcomes were:
Red House was named after Leonardo
da Vinci, artist and visionary, and is led by Mrs J Walls.
Yellow House was named after Lenny Henry, comedian and charity worker, and is led by Mrs J Rixon.

Green House was named after John
Lennon, Beatle and peace activist, and is led by Mr A Shaul.
Blue House was named after Gene
Kelly, dancer and charity icon, and is led by Mrs J Povey
